পাবনার সুজানগর উপজেলার পদ্মা নদীর ভাঙনরোধে জিও ব্যাগ ফেলার কাজের উদ্বোধন করা হয়েছে।
গতকাল দুপুরে সুজানগর উপজেলার মাজপাড়া ঈদগাহ মাঠসংলগ্ন এলাকায় জিও ব্যাগ ফেলার কার্যক্রমের উদ্বোধন করেন পাবনা-২ আসনের সংসদ সদস্য একেএম সেলিম রেজা হাবিব।
উদ্বোধনকালে তিনি বলেন, পদ্মা নদীর ভাঙনে ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত এলাকার মানুষের জানমাল ও কৃষিজমি রক্ষায় সরকার প্রয়োজনীয় ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণ করছে। ভাঙনপ্রবণ এলাকায় দ্রুত প্রতিরোধমূলক কাজ বাস্তবায়নের মাধ্যমে নদীভাঙনের ঝুঁকি কমিয়ে আনার চেষ্টা চলছে।
এ সময় সুজানগর ও বেড়া উপজেলার নির্বাহী কর্মকর্তা, পানি উন্নয়ন বোর্ডের নির্বাহী প্রকৌশলীসহ স্থানীয় জনপ্রতিনিধি, গণ্যমান্য ব্যক্তিবর্গ এবং সংশ্লিষ্ট কর্মকর্তারা উপস্থিত ছিলেন।
পানি উন্নয়ন বোর্ড সূত্রে জানা যায়, ভাঙনপ্রবণ এলাকায় জিও ব্যাগ ফেলার মাধ্যমে নদীর তীর সংরক্ষণ ও ভাঙন নিয়ন্ত্রণের উদ্যোগ নেওয়া হয়েছে।
